Plan the trip, forget nothing at home
A trip starts as a list of decisions: what you are taking, what you are still considering, and what stays at home. Once you have decided, packing mode turns the list into a checklist you tick off — on your phone or printed on paper.
How trip planning works
Templates by type of trip
Keep separate gear sets for a summer trek, a winter tour or a via ferrata day, and start a new trip from one with a single click. Templates suggest themselves by season — winter ones from November to April.
Packing mode
Shows only what you are actually taking. Tick items off as they go in the bag, watch the progress bar, or print the checklist and tick it with a pen.
Bags
Split gear between the backpack, the car and a bag that stays at the hut. Packing mode then groups the checklist by bag, and each one shows its own weight and progress.
Share with your group
Send the others a link and plan together. You decide who may edit the gear and who only ticks off their own packing. Everyone packs for themselves, so you avoid three people bringing a stove and nobody bringing the tent.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a gear list for a multi-day trek?
Create a trip, apply a template or add items from the catalogue, and mark each as taking, considering or not taking. You get a running pack weight as you decide, and the list becomes your packing checklist.
Can we plan a trip as a group?
Yes. Share the trip by link and pick what the other person may do — an editor can change the gear, a packer only ticks off their own packing. Packing is tracked per person, so two people can pack the same trip independently.
Can I print the checklist?
Yes. Packing mode prints a checklist with empty boxes, quantities and the trip date, without the navigation and buttons — a clean sheet of paper to tick off by hand.
Can I reuse a trip next time?
Duplicate it and you get the same gear, quantities and bags in a new trip. Or save the trip as a template and start from it whenever a similar trip comes up.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, the app is built for a phone as much as a computer — packing mode in particular is meant to be used standing over an open backpack.
Do I need an account?
For trips and gear lists yes, because they are saved to your account and follow you across devices. Sign-in is through Google or Apple, no password. The route planner and route explorer are free without an account.
